The restoration process takes many steps to achieve a nearly concourse perfect steering wheel. The rim of the wheel is carefully cleaned to remove all deteriorating materials, then any damage is repaired using modern professional materials that were tested for temperature stability. New woodgrain pattern is carefully applied that has the correct pattern and texture. The color is then applied using several different tinting bases until the correct shade and color is achieved. Striping or other details are applied followed by several coats of ultraviolet inhibiting clear to protect the rim for many years.  New switches, connection wires are installed if available or rebuilt to perform like new.
